Honey & Maple Syrup
The hives and production facility are in Port Hopep; the honey is all-natural and not pasteurized. Wildflower honey is made from a variety of naturally growing flowers that the bees harvest in their browsing. Buckwheat honey is derived by placing the hives adjacent to fields of flowering buckwheat. It is darker in colour and has a more robust flavour (it is my favourite). Creamed honey is made by blending honey that has naturally crystallized with liquid honey to obtain a product that spreads better on toast.
Maple syrup from The Sandy Flats Sugar Bush has been a staple in my store since our inception. It is a high quality local product. Each year during March Break there is a demonstration of “sugaring”, pancake breakfasts and horse drawn sleigh-rides. A great local product and a great local annual event.
